The Southwest Montana Junior Golf Tour will make its fourth stop of the 2016 season Wednesday at the Anaconda Challenge.
Play begins with a 9 a.m. shotgun start at the Anaconda Country Club in Opportunity.
Three stops in, and the most compelling race is in the Jason Day Division for boys’ 16-17. Houston Green holds a narrow lead over fellow Butte golfer Isaiah Weldon in that division. Green holds a 4,300-4,100 advantage.
In the Lydia Ko Division for girls 16-17, Butte’s Lexi Williams sits atop the standings with 4,100 points. Helena’s Wes Nehl is second at 3,600.
Butte’s Grace Luoma leads the Inbee Park Division for girls 14-15, though Tricia Joyce lurks behind. Luoma leads 1,600-800. Joyce, who recently won the Montana State Golf Association Junior Championship, has only played one tournament.
In the Lexi Thompson Division for girls’ 12-13, MacKenzie Finnegan of Butte leads the way at 2,600. Butte’s Kodie Hoagland, who played one less event, sits in second at 2,000.
Also, Max Feight of Whitehall leads the Jordan Spieth Division for boys’ 14-15, and Cullen Visser of Manhattan leads the Rory McIlroy Division for boys 12-13.
In all, the tour will stop nine times, concluding with the Old Works Challenge on Aug. 8.
