Junior tour heads to crunch time at Fairmont Invite

The Southwest Montana Junior Golf Tour will make its sixth stop Wednesday at the Fairmont Invitational.

Play begins with a 9 a.m. shotgun start at the Fairmont Hot Springs Course in Gregson.

Several divisions feature tight races atop the tour standings. The battle between Butte’s Alexis Williams and Helena’s Wes Nehl in the Lydia Ko Division for girls 16-17 might be the most compelling. The two are tied with 6,200 points after the tour passed the halfway mark last week in Deer Lodge.

Butte’s Kodie Hoagland and Ella Prigge are tied at 4,000 points to lead the Lexi Thompson Division for girls 12-13.

Another tight race comes from the Jason Day Division for boys 16-17. In that division, Houston Green leads fellow Butte golfer Isaiah Weldon 6,400-6,000. Owen Hathaway of Helena is third at 53,00, followed by Butte’s Will Hoagland at 4,600.

Whitehall’s Max Feight leads the Jordan Spieth Division for boys 14-15, Grace Luoma of Butte tops the Inbee Park Division for girls 14-15, and Manhattan’s Cullen Visser leads the Rory McIlroy Division for boys 12-13.

After Wednesday, the tour will have just three stops remaining. Next up is the Beaverhead Open, which is Monday in Dillon.
