Junior golfers ready to take on Anaconda Challenge

The South West Montana Junior Golf tour will make the eighth of its nine stops of the 2017 season Wednesday at the Anaconda Challenge.

Play begins at 9 a.m. at the Anaconda Country Club in Opportunity. The tour concludes next Monday with the Old Works Championships.

Butte golfers Will Hoagland, Kodie Hoagland and MacKenzie Finnegan sit atop their division standings with two tournaments left.

Will Hoagland leads fellow Butte golfer Isaiah Weldon 7,100-6,900 in the Dustin Johnson Division for boys 16-17.

Finnegan leads Butte’s Grace Luoma 4,900-4,300 in the Lexi Thompson Division for girls 14-15, while Kodie Hoagland has a comfortable lead in the Stacy Lewis Division for girls 12-13.

Butte’s Kaven Noctor is within striking distance in the Jordan Spieth Division for boys 14-15. He trails leader Tanner Hanson of Hamilton 10,700-10,600.
