Junior Bruins pull away for 9-2 win over Cobras

Butte Cobras Trevor Stokes and Charles Blandin each scored a goal early in the second period to knot their battle with the Missoula Junior Bruins at 2-all Friday night.

That was the end of the good news for the local club.

Missoula closed the game with seven unanswered goals to skate past the Cobras for a 9-2 victory at the Butte Community Ice Center. (Stats)

Vadim Zubkov scored 11 minutes into the second period to break the tie in favor of the Junior Bruins. The goal was the first of five for Zubkov, who found the net four times in the third period.

Misha Akatnov added a hat trick in the win. Trevor Prince collected five assists, and Josh Sample turned away 32 of 34 Butte shots on goal.

Wyatt Haakenson and Tyson Stovin assisted on Butte goals. Missoula got off 68 shots at Butte goalie Karl Zodda. He stopped 59.

The Cobras will play host to the Bozeman Icedogs Saturday night. The puck drops at 7:30, and all fans will get the chance to skate with the Cobras after the game.
