Jund tosses five TDs, Western routs Rocky

DILLON — Jon Jund passed for five touchdowns Saturday, and Montana Western rolled to a 40-10 win over Rocky Mountain College at Vigilante Field. (Stats)

The sophomore quarterback passed for 230 yards on 15-for-30 passing. He hit Nate Simkins nine times for 124 yards and three scores.

Kyle Prante caught two TD passes for the Bulldogs, who led 26-0 at halftime.

Jason Ferris forced two fumbles and Dylan Pope intercepted two passes to lead the Western defense. Joe Caicedo, who tied Payton Pinz with the team lead with 11 total tackles, and Kameron Rauser each intercepted a pass.

Butte Central graduate Kyle Schulte got in on seven tackles, five of which were solo.

The win keeps the Bulldogs’ long-shot hopes of winning the Frontier Conference title alive.

Western would have to beat the College of Idaho next week in Caldwell. The Bulldogs (6-2) would have to follow that victory with a home win over Southern Oregon.

Then, of course, they would need MSU-Northern to shock the world with at the College of Idaho.
