DILLON — Jon Jund threw for 356 yards and four touchdowns Saturday, and Montana Western opened the season with a 31-24 win over Carroll College at Vigilante Field. (Stats)
Jund hit Walker McKitrick for a 37-yard touchdown with 1 minute, 28 seconds left for the game winner.
That came after Carroll’s Devan Bridgewater found Tony Collins for a 47-yard score to tie the game at 24 early in the fourth quarter.
Jund, who completed 27 of 41 passes without an interception, threw touchdown passes to Nate Sikins, Jamison Hermanson and Trey Mounts in the victory.
Bridgewater threw for 292 yards in the loss. He also ran for a score.
Matthew Burgess racked up 111 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries for Carroll.
Jason Ferris was credited with 19 tackles to lead the Bulldog defense. Payton Pinz chalked up 10 take downs.
The Bulldogs head to MSU-Northern next Saturday, while the Saints will play at home against Rocky Mountain College.
