Joyce’s 20 points leads Central girls past Dillon

DILLON — The Butte Central girls’ basketball team got back to winning ways Thursday night.

Senior guard Tricia Joyce sank six 3-poitners and scored 20 points, and BC overcame the loss of Sofee Thatcher to an injury in a 43-35 Southwestern A win over the Dillon Beavers at the B.W. Lodge Gymnasium.

Joyce scored 12 points in the first half — all on 3-pointers — as BC built a 20-12 halftime lead. Dillon cut the advantage to 27-24 by the end of the third quarter. The Maroons, though were too much for Dillon in the final frame.

Maddie Kump hit five of six free throws and scored seven of her nine points in the second half to help BC hold on for the win. Emma Keeley scored eight points for BC, while Amira Bolton scored five.

Bella Sorini, Shea Davis, Delaney Hasquet and Avery Kelly also contributed for the Maroons, who improved to 7-8 overall and 6-3 in conference.

Tylia DeJong hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 13 points to lead the Beavers (3-12, 3-5). Josey Jones tossed in five for Dillon, which got four apiece from Kylee Pittman and Lauryn Peterson, and three from Kassidy Broere and Jordyn McKay.

The Maroons hit the road Saturday for a non-conference game in Livingston.
