Johnson, Redbirds sting Bees

SALT LAKE CITY — Catcher Rob Johnson went 1 for 5 with an RBI and a run scored Wednesday night as the Memphis Redbirds thumped the Salt Lake Bees 17-6 in a Pacific Coast League game.

The Butte native’s batting average sits at .181. The Redbirds did their damage on 19 hits. Kolten Wong went 4 for 5, while Brock Peterson hit a pair of home runs. Jamie Romak and J.R. Towles each added one.

The Redbirds, the Triple A team of the St. Louis Cardinals, close out the four-game series with Salt Lake Thursday night. They return home to start a four-game set with Round Rock on Friday.
