Johnson pounds three hits in win

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Rob Johnson’s hot streak continued Wednesday night.

The Butte native went 3 for 4 with two doubles, three RBIs and a run scored as the Memphis Redbirds beat the New Orleans Zephyrs 9-3 in a Pacific Coast League game.

Johnson hit RBI doubles in the second and seventh innings of the win. He drilled an RBI single in the fifth inning. The former Butte Miner and Butte Central Maroon lifted his batting average to .234. He has seven home runs, six doubles and 27 RBIs in 43 games.

Over the last 10 games, Johnson has hit .286 with three doubles, three home runs and 12 RBIs.

The first-place Redbirds close out the series with the Zephyrs today. They then head out on an eight-game road trip to Albuquerque and Round Rock.
