Johnson homers in Redbirds rout

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — That’s more like it.

Butte native Rob Johnson went 2 for 4 with a home run, walk and two runs scored Monday night as the Memphis Redbirds beat the New Orleans Zephyrs 18-2.

The Redbirds (2-3) pounded 18 hits in the opener of a four-game series.

Johnson also caught starter Tyler Lyons, who surrendered two runs on seven innings. He struck out three and walked none.

Johnson, a former Mariner, Padre and Met is now batting .250 for the Triple-A team for the St. Louis Cardinals.
