A pair of Butte brothers stepped to the top of the awards podium Saturday at the 11th Butte 100 cycling race.
John “Bear” Stillwagon won the men’s open in the 50-mile race last year. This year, Stillwagon, 45, outdid himself, winning the men’s open in the 100-mile race.
Stillwagon finished the race in 10 hours, 43 minutes, 8.65 seconds for the victory, making him 2 for 2 in competing in the event that drew more than 350 riders.
Nate Stillwagon, 35, who placed third in the open division of the 50-mile race last year, won the open division in the 50 this year. The younger Stillwagon, who now lives in Boise, Idaho, finished in was 5 hours, 30 minutes, 58.3 seconds.
