Jed Fike takes home Frontier Conference award

WHITEFISH — The Frontier Conference named Montana Tech’s Jed Fike the Offensive Player of the Week this afternoon.

The honor comes two days after the 5-foot-11, 200-pound junior running back ran for a season-best 223 yards and three touchdowns in Montana Tech’s 31-27 upset win over then-No. 11 Rocky Mountain College in Billings.

The Harrison native and former Whitehall Trojan, did his damage on 40 carries, averaging 5.6 yards per carry. He scored on runs of 66, 11 and 3 yards.

Fike won the Frontier Conference rushing title for the second straight season. He chalked up 1,340 yards and nine touchdowns in 10 games. He ranks fourth in the nation in total rushing and fifth with 134 yards per game. He averaged 5.2 yards per carry on the season.

Last season, Fike led the Frontier with 1,252 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns. He ran for 898 yards and 11 touchdowns during his freshman season at Dickinson State.

Fike transferred to Montana Tech in January of 2017.
