Jamar named to NABC All-District 6 first team

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced today the NABC Division I All-District teams for 2013-14, recognizing the nation’s best men’s collegiate basketball student-athletes, and the University of Montana’s Kareem Jamar was a first team selection in District 6.

A 6-foot-5 senior guard/forward from Venice, Calif., Jamar was recently named first team All-Big Sky Conference for the third straight season. He was named the league’s regular-season MVP last season.

Joining Jamar from the Big Sky were Weber State senior guard/forward Davion Berry, and North Dakota senior guard/forward Troy Huff. The conference’s second team selections included Northern Colorado senior forward Derrick Barden, Eastern Washington sophomore guard Tyler Harvey, and Sacramento State junior guard Mihk McKinney.

Jamar, who is currently in Ogden, Utah with the Griz basketball team to play in a first-round Big Sky tournament game against Portland State tomorrow (Thursday, March 13), is ranked among the league leaders in several key categories. He is currently ranked fourth in scoring (18.8 ppg), assists (4.0 apg), and assist/turnover ratio (1.8), and is 10th in rebounding (5.6 rpg).

Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC, these student-athletes represent the finest basketball players across America. The 252 student-athletes, from 25 districts, are eligible for the NABC Coaches’ Division I All-America teams.
