BILLINGS — MSU Billings hit on the long ball Friday night, and Montana Tech did not.
The result was the Yellowjackets beating the Orediggers 78-53 at the Alterowitz Gym. Stats
The Yellowjackets connected on 10 of 21 shots from behind the 3-point arch in the game that was an exhibition for the NCAA Division II team. Marissa Van Atta hit three 3-pointers and scored 15 points to lead four MSUB players in double figures.
Grace Weeks and Tina Hanson each scored 12 points in the win, while Taylor Edwards scored 10.
Martha Dembek scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the NAIA Orediggers, who shot 4 of 22 from 3-point land. Monica Landdeck added 13 points, and Kaylee Zard tossed in 10 points.
The Orediggers also got six points from Rachel Farris, four from Callee Remsen, three from Hattie Thatcher and one from Kaylynn Coverdell and Shay Potter.
Tech fell to 4-1 with the loss that counts in non-conference standings for the Orediggers.
The Orediggers will head further from home Friday night. They will play Dickinson State on Saturday.
Last weekend, Tech beat the Blue Hawks 73-62 in Butte.
