HELENA — Mark Northey singled in Colin Sassano with the winning run Wednesday night as the Helena Independents walked off with a 3-2 win over the Butte Muckers.
The game was the first of a doubleheader.
Seth Schneider and Sassano combined to hold the Muckers, Butte’s junior American Legion team, to four hits.
Ax Henningsen, Konnor O’Neill, Dyllan Lane and Bryson Henningson all hit singles for the Muckers.
Tyler Ossello was the hard-luck loser on the hill. He struck out seven and walked seven.
The Muckers close out their schedule Saturday with a road doubleheader against the Bozeman Blackhawks.
