Inconsistent Bulldogs fall in four

GREAT FALLS — An up-and-down Butte High volleyball team fell in four games to Great Falls High Thursday night.

The Bison won the first two games of the match 25-19 and 27-25. Butte High battled back for a 25-17 win in Game 3 before Great Falls closed out the win with a 25-17 win in Game 4.

“There were some things we did so well we almost looked Billings Senior-ish,” Butte High coach Dale Burgman said. “There were some times we were hitting it into the net or killing a grandma in the stands. It was pretty darn inconsistent.”

Carlie Haeffner led the Bulldogs with seven kills and seven blocks. Baylee Thatcher smacked nine kills, while Jessie Buckley killed seven. Buckley also served three of Butte High’s nine aces, and Thatcher dished up 10 assists.

McKaul Ori led the team with 14 assists.

Hattie Thatcher led a balanced back-court defense with 17 digs. Buckley collected 16 digs, and Sammy McGree dug 14.

Butte High plays at home Saturday against Great Falls Russell. The match is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
