MISSOULA — The Butte Central girls’ basketball team showed tremendous improvement from Day 1 to Day 2 at the Western A Tip-off Tournament.
The Maroons, though, still fell 61-44 to Browning at the University of Montana Auxiliary Gym. (BC stats)
“We played 100 percent better,” BC coach Meg Murphy said of her super-young team, which trailed by eight points heading into the fourth quarter. “We played harder and never quit. We got better today.”
Senior Tricia Joyce sank four 3-pointers and scored 15 points to lead the Maroons. Sophomore Madison Kump scored 11 points, while freshman Sofee Thatcher contributed with nine points, nine rebounds and five assists.
Central also got four points from Bella Sorini, three from Emma Keeley and two from Amira Bolton.
A full box score is not available for the game, nor is point total for Browning.
The Maroons are back in action next Friday and Saturday when they play host to Frenchtown and Stevensville at the Maroon Activities Center.
