The Montana Tech HPER Complex will be a very busy place Friday and Saturday.
Montana Tech’s men’s and women’s basketball teams will host the inaugural Tip Off Tournament, which will be two days of non-conference games including Montana Western, Dickinson State and Nueta Hidatsa Sahnish College. The Oredigger volleyball team will also play on Saturday, meaning the HPER Complex will see nine contests in two days.
Play beings at 1 p.m. Friday when the Montana Western women take on Dickinson State at 1 p.m. The Bulldogs take a 1-1 record in to play following Wednesday’s 80-75 loss at MSU-Billings. Western’s victory was a 84-49 win over Salish Kootenai College.
Dickenson State’s women are 2-3 on the season. The Blue Hawks men are 3-0, and they take Montana Western at 3 p.m.
The Bulldog men opened the season with a 125-65 win over the Salish Kootenai College.
The Montana Tech women battle Nueta Hidatsa, a tribal school from New Town North Dakota, at 5 p.m.
The Orediggers, who fell in an exhibition game at Montana State on Wednesday, officially take a 1-0 record into the tournament.
Tech’s men are also officially 1-0 after Wednesday’s loss at the University of Utah. The Orediggers close Friday’s play at 7 p.m. against Nueta Hidatsa.
On Saturday, Western’s men and women play Nueta Hidatsa. The women play at 9 a.m., followed by the men at 11.
The Montana Tech volleyball team will take the court at 2 p.m. for a Senior Day battle with MSU-Northern.
Tech’s basketball teams will close out the tournament against Dickinson State. The women play at 5 p.m., followed by the men at 7.
