Houston Green tied for second at State AA golf

BILLINGS — Butte High senior golfer Houston Green shot a 1-under-par 71 Thursday at the Lake Hills Golf Course and is tied for second place halfway through the Class AA State tournament.

Billings West’s Joey Moore leads the way with a 68. Green is tied with Will Holloran of Bozeman at 71. Keaton Sunchild of Great Falls High and Sean Ramsbacher of Missoula Sentinel are tied for fourth at 72.

Green’s big day led the Bulldogs to within striking distance of the state title. Butte High shot a 308 and sits in fourth place. Butte High is just six shots behind West, which leads at 302. Bozeman and Great Falls High are tied for second at 306.

Butte High junior Isaiah Weldon shot a 75 and is tied for 12th place. Classmate Will Hoagland is tied for 20th at 78. Butte High senior Marcus Lynch added an 84, while freshman Kaven Noctor shot 92.

Only the top four scores each day count in team standings.

On the girls’ side, the Bulldogs are tied for fourth place with Helena Capital at 379, and a trophy is within grasp.

Bozeman holds a substantial lead at 317. Sentinel is second at 370, while Great Falls High is third at 376.

Bozeman’s Meggie Delaney, the granddaughter of former University of Montana football coach Mick Delaney, shot a 76 to top the individual leaderboard.

Teammate Kameryn Bayse and Great Falls’ High’s Renae Heisler are tied for second at 79.

Butte High senior Lexi Williams carded an 86 and is tied for 11th place at the halfway mark. The top 15 individuals earn All-State honors.

Juniors Sadie Starcevich and Kelliann Neary each shot a 97 for Butte High, while senior Katelyn Alley hit 99. Also, freshman Grace Luoma carded a 105.
