Following is a run down of all the local sports action on the docket for Monday, Aug. 20.
Butte Central at BC Invitational at Highland View, 9 a.m.
The Maroons are hoping a little home cooking will help them Monday morning at the “Muni” for the Butte Central Invitational.
BC senior Derek Ralph is coming off a solid performance in Friday’s Livingston Invite. Ralph shot a 77 to tie for first place. He lost a scorecard playoff — that’s right, a scorecard playoff — to Belgrade’s Tyler Ferguson for medalist honors.
Cal Hollow and Jack Gallagher rounded out BC’s top three in Livingston.
Anaconda will be part of the field. Two tournaments into the season, and Caleb Stetzner has two strong showings.
Butte High at Great Falls 1 p.m.
The Bulldogs get a late start for the Great Falls Invitational, which will be played at the Meadow Lark Country Club and Eagle Falls course.
Tuesday’s play begins at 8:30 a.m.
The Butte High girls’ team is looking for its second straight strong showing after a third place last week at the Billings Invitational.
Junior Hailey Hoagland and Shealyn Hafer tied for third place last week. Sophore Hailey Ogolin placed 10th. All three are coming off strong summers playing competitive golf.
On the boys’ side, senior David Starcevich is coming off a third-place showing in Billings. Seniors Ty Lace and Michael Jankovich and freshman Trey Hoagland also showed they are capable of competing at a high level for Butte High.
