HELENA — A record-setting night by Sabrina Hopcroft led the way Wednesday as Montana Tech volleyball team knocked off Carroll College in a four-set Frontier Conference match at the P.E. Center.
The Montana Tech senior libero broke her own school record with 53 digs, and No. 17 Tech beat the Saints 23-25, 27-25, 25-23, 25-19.
Freshman Maureen Jessop spiked 14 kills to pace Tech’s offensive attack. Gena McMillan and Heather Thompson followed with 12 and 11 kills, McKenna Kaelber registered 48 assists.
Lexi Mickelson led the way for the Saints with 16 kills.
Hopcroft set the Montana Tech record with 45 digs in a 2016 match. She also collected 41 digs in a 2018 match. She is one of three Orediggers to ever register 40 or more digs in a single match. Kimmy Kavran posted matches with 43, 42, 41 and 40 digs in 2012, and Bekah Hudson dug 40 in 2005.
Montana Tech will host Lewis-Clark State at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Orediggers will be celebrating Senior Day, honoring Hopcroft and Thompson.
