Hoops tourney in full swing

The sixth-annual Butte Depot Crossroads Shootout continues today in five gyms throughout the Mining City.

The Maroon Activities Center, East Middle School, McKinley Annex, Butte Central High School and Whittier Elementary are filled with players from the 65 teams competing.

The tournament is using 30 referees from out of town. All 30 are volunteering their time.

The proceeds from the tournament benefit Mariah’s Challenge, an organization that fights underage drinking and drunk driving.

Sixty-five teams will compete in five gyms — the Maroon Activities Center, East Middle School, McKinley Annex, Butte Central High School and Whittier Elementary.
