GREAT FALLS — Butte High’s golf teams held steady as the Great Falls Invitational closed Tuesday at Eagle Falls Golf Course.
Butte High’s girls placed sixth, while the Bulldog boys took seventh in the tournament that included all 14 Class AA teams. The Bulldogs, though, saw some individual improvements on the second day.
Senior Will Hoagland shot a 1-over-par 72 to lead the Bulldogs to a 323 on the final round. Classmate Isaiah Weldon carded a 73.
Weldon, who hit 79 Monday at Meadowlark Country Club, tied for 12th place at 152. Hoagland tied for 17th at 155.
Defending Class AA state champion Joey Moore of Billings West shot a final-round 65 to claim medalist honors at 136. Great Falls High’s Connor Mora, who shot a 68 Tuesday, took second at 141.
Great Falls Russell followed Monday’s 295 with a 293 for a 588 total and the team title. Great Falls High hit a final-round 286 and took second at 591. Butte High, which improved six shots from Monday, carded a 652.
Sophomore Kaven Noctor hit an 86 and a 170 for the Bulldogs, while junior Carsten Quam shot 92 and 175. Also, Andrew Kober hit 98 and 191. The top four scores each day count toward the team score
Bozeman’s girls shot a 331 on Tuesday and ran away with the team title at 660. Billings West was a distant second at 728. Butte High slipped four shots to 411 and 818.
Bozeman’s Kameryn Basye hit a 75 and claimed medalist honors at 154. Teammate Annika Danenhauer was second at 157.
Butte senior Sadie Starcevich and Kelliann Neary each hit 98 on Tuesday. Starcevich finished at 199 and a tie for 20th place. Neary ended at 201 and a tie for 24th.
Also, Freshman Ella Prigge hit 106 for a 208, and sophomore Grace Luoma shot 109 for a 210. Freshman Kennedy Lean finished her first tournament at 118 and 227.
The Bulldogs will play at the Billings Invitational next Monday and Tuesday.
