BOZEMAN — Butte High seniors Will Hoagland and Isaiah Weldon placed in the top 10 Wednesday at the Bozeman Invitational.
The tournament was shortened to one day because of poor weather wiped out Tuesday’s play. Wednesday’s round was played at the Bridger Creek Golf Course.
The abbreviated tournament served as Butte High’s final tune up before next week’s Class AA State meet in Kalispell.
Hoagland shot a 4-over-par 75 to place fourth overall to lead Butte High to third place in the six-team tournament. Weldon tied for seventh place at 78.
Billings West’s Joey Moore, the defending state champion, shot a 66 to run away with medalist honors. Cody Brunner of Billings Skyview took second at 72, followed by Brady Cady of Billings Senior at 73.
West won the boys’ team title with a 309. Bozeman placed second at 316, and Butte High shot 320.
Carsten Quam added an 83 for the Bulldogs. Kaven Noctor hit 84, and Riley Wash shot a 90.
Kameryn Basye shot a 71 to win medalist honors and lead the Bozeman girls to the team title. Counting on junior varsity player, the Hawks took six of the top seven spots on the leaderboard. Annika Danenhauer of Bozeman took second at 74, followed by fellow Hawk Laurel Ward at 75.
As a team, the Hawks shot 301. West placed a distant second at 349. Butte High shot 391 for fifth place.
