LIVINGSTON — Charity Hildreth is a state Elks Hoop Shoot champion.
The Dillon shooter connected on 17 free throws to win the girls’ 12-13 title at the Elks Hoop Shoot state competition Saturday. She beat three shooters by one shot.
Hildreth and the other five state champions advance to the Regional Hoop Shoot in Rapid City, South Dakota on March 14. The National Finals are in Chicago on April 18. The names of all the national winners are engraved on plaques at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Butte’s Miles Choquette placed second in the boys 8-9 age group. He sank 20 of 25 free throws on the day. Maverick Murphy of Glendive won the division with 24 made free throws.
Kyler Engellant of Dillon placed second in the boys’ 12-13 group with 20 made shots. Colter Chamberlin of Red Lodge won with 23.
Also, Brianna Layng of Boulder placed fourth in the girls’ 10-11 group. She finished in a four-way tie for first place, but settled for fourth in a playoff.
