BILLINGS — Jake Hedge won his first Men’s Montana State Amateur Championship Saturday at the Yellowstone Country Club.
The 29-year-old Billings West graduate fired a 1-over-par 73 on the final round to easily outpace Liam Clancy of Park City.
Hedge finished with a 7-under 209 for the three-day tournament. Clancy, the only other player to break par on the tournament, hit a 71 for a 2-under 214 total.
Laurel’s Brad Fox placed third at 216, one shot better than 2019 champion Joey Moore of Billings.
Montana Tech player Sean Ramsbacher of Missoula tied for fifth place at 219. He shot a final-round 76 after rounds of 71 and 72.
Ramsbacher led a strong contingent of Oredigger players in the tournament.
Billings native Sean Benson, a former Oredigger who won a Frontier Conference title in his days at Montana Tech, placed 10th at 223 after his 73 on Saturday.
Tech’s Brady Cady, Jace Rhodes and Matt Hobbs all broke 80 on the final round. Cady hit a 77 for a 223. Hobbs and Rhodes finished at 234. Hobbs fired a 73, while Rhodes hit 78.
Other current Orediggers to play were Jhett Bradley (250), Kaven Noctor (253) and Blake Loberg (256). Tech coach Sean Ryan shot a final-round 78 for a 237.
Butte High sophomore Jack Prigge finished with an 85 for a 254.
Craig Hurlbert of Rollins won the Senior Championship, which was played in conjunction with the State Am. He finished with a 73 for a 2-under 214.
Bozeman’s Tom White, who had a share of the lead after Day 2, finished three shots back after a 217.
Butte’s Jerry Rapp finished strong with a 78 to tie for 19th place at 244. Mark Hodges of Butte shot an 85 for a 253.
