Havre, Polson win State A morning games

MISSOULA — Havre and Polson will play for third place at the Class A State boys’ basketball tournament at 6:30 tonight at Dahlberg Arena.

The Blue Ponies and Pirates survived the Saturday-morning loser-out games for the chance to play for a trophy.

Dane Warp scored 29 points and Jerod Boles tossed in 16 as the Blue Ponies (18-5) knocked off Laurel 70-57 in the early game. Stat sheet

Josh Anderson scored 14 points to lead the Locomotives, who close the season at 12-13 one year after winning the state title. Marcus Gunn and Layne Willis each scored 10.

Matthew Rensvold scored 20 points to lead Polson to a 64-56 win over Hardin in Saturday’s second game. Stat sheet

Payton Lefthand added 14 points for the Pirates (18-6), while Tanner Wilson scored 13.

Larry McCormick scored 14 points to lead four Bulldogs in double figures as Hardin closed the season at 14-10.
