LOLO — Hanna Kluck and Aiden Sorich, members of Butte’s Copper Sprockets cycling team, rode to victory Saturday at the Lolo Liftoff.
The victories highlighted a strong performance by 11 members of the Copper Sprockets competing in the third stop of the Montana Interscholastic Cycling League Race Series
The race featured a course of 3.3 miles, gaining 400 feet in altitude. (Results)
Kluck won the freshman girls’ race, completing three laps in 1 hour, 2 minutes, 40 seconds. That victory helped her retain her status as points leader in the division.
Sorich won the eighth-grade boys division. He finished two laps in 33:19, and he is the points leader heading into the series finale.
In all, 22 riders competed in the eighth-grade boys’ division. Butte’s Will Silk placed fourth, while teammate Coen Lutke took eighth.
Max Kluck is also the points leader in the varsity boys’ division as the riders eye the Oct. 5 Copper City Crusher, just north of Three Forks. Kluck placed second on Saturday, finishing five laps in 1:20:08. Caden Means of Flathead Valley Composite won the race in 1:16:52.
Butte’s John Renouard placed second in the four-lap JV boys’ race. He posted a time of 1:14:09. Grace Luoma of Butte took third in the JV girls’ race, crossing in 1:0639.
John Ryan of Butte rode to sixth place in the sophomore boys’ race, and Hazel Ryan took fifth in the sixth-grade girls’ division. Copper Sprocket Caden Tippett took seventh in the sixth-grade division. Butte’s Ben McAdams placed 11th in the boys’ sixth-grade race.1 comment
