Hamilton, Columbia Falls run to wins at Classic

WHITEFISH — Hamilton’s boys and Columbia Falls’ girls ran to titles at the Western A Fall Classic Saturday on the Whitefish Lake Golf Course. (Results)

With three runners in the top four, the Hamilton boys won with 26 points. Whitefish placed second at 60, followed by Ronan at 81.

Ronan senior Brant Heiner won the 5-kilometer race with a time of 16 minutes, 24 seconds. Hamilton junior Colter Purcell took second at 16:30. He was followed by classmates Colter Kirkland in 16:49 and Lane Cole in 17:01.

The Columbia Falls won with 38 points. Corvallis took second at 49, and Polson finished third at 82.

Hamilton senior Brynnli Poulsen won the girls’ race in 18:48. Senior Lara Erickson of Columbia Falls took second at 20:12. Her junior teammate Hannah Sempf finished third in 20:24.

Butte Central freshman Hallie Kellicut posted a personal-record time of 29:00.

“She was happy with her time,” BC coach Bob Johnson said. “She did well.”

The Class A state meet is Friday in Kalispell.
