Hamilton boys top Maroons in undefeated battle

HAMILTON — The Hamilton Broncs won the battle of undefeated teams Friday night.

Carter Kearns scored 16 points to lead three Broncs in double figures, and Hamilton knocked off Butte Central 58-49 in a Southwestern A boys’ basketball game.

Kearns hit three 3-pointers on the night. As a team, the Broncs hit seven treys compared to just two from BC.

Tanner Goligoski hit a pair of threes and scored 14 points, while Hunter Omlid tossed in 13 points.

Dylan Sestrich came off the bench to hit both of BC’s threes and scored a team-leading 13 points.

Matt Simkins scored and Cade Holter each scored 10 points for the Maroons, who got eight points from Luke Heaphy, six from Jared Simkins and two from Dan McCloskey.

Aaron Richards, who played in foul trouble before fouling out, and Trevor Neumann also contributed for the Maroons, who fell to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in conference.

The Broncs improved to 7-0 and 2-0.

The Maroons are off until they play at Dillon on Jan. 4.
