BOZEMAN — Recent Butte High graduate Shealyn Hafer fired a 2-over Par 73 Tuesday and sits in a second-place tie at the two-day Big I Junior Golf Classic at the Bridger Creek Golf Course.

Kalispell’s Tiegan Avery leads the way at 72 in the girls’ 14-18 age group. Hafer is tied with Billings Golfer Kortney McNeil. Moran O’Neil of Laurel hit a 75, while Coral Schulz of Helena and Sadie Crippen of Missoula shot 76.

Anaconda’s Caleb Stetzner fired a 69 to take the first-round lead in the boy’s 15-16 age group. Sean Benson of Billings is two back at 71. Bigfork’s Ryan Keenan shot a 73, while Great Falls’ Easton Enott and Bozeman’s Tyson Odden are tied for fourth at 74.

Joey Moore of Billings shot a 70 to lead the boys’ 14-15 age group. Ryggs Johnston of Billings is one shot back.

The top two boys and girls will earn a spot in the National Championships, which is Aug. 3-6 at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kansas.
