OLYMPIA, Wash. — Butte High graduate Shealyn Hafer placed second overall Saturday to lead MSU-Billings to the team title at the St. Martins Invitational golf tournament.
Hafer, a senior, followed a first-round 79 with a 77 for a 156 total at the Olympia Country and Golf Club. She finished five shots behind medalist Cammie Decker of Concordia Oregon. Decker shot a 77 and a 74. (Results)
As a team, the Yellowjackets improved 18 shots for a second-round 311 and a 640 total. Simon Fraser University finished second at 654. Concordia took third at 655.
Hafer was one of three Yellowjackets to place in the top five. Kinsey Irvin took fourth at 159 one shot ahead of teammate Tierney Messmer.
The Yellowjackets will be back in action Monday and Tuesday at the Western Washington University Invitational in Bellingham.
