Hafer rebounds, places third at Fairmont

GREGSON — Butte High’s Shealyn Hafer improved six shots from Thursday for an 80 Friday at the Fairmont Hot Springs Golf Course to placed third at the Butte Invitational.

Hannah Zwemke of Billings West fired a final-round 78 for a 161 and medalist honors. Teigan Avery of Kalispell Glacier took second at 165, while Hafer placed third at 166.

Butte High senior Hailey Ogolin followed an 89 with a 93 and tied for 10th place at 182.

The Bulldogs placed fifth overall at 779. West ran away with the team title at 720. Glacier was next at 784, followed by Billings Senior at 751 and Bozeman at 765.

Butte High’s Alexis Williams shot a 106 for a 201, while Ashten McCloskey carded a 117 for 230. Freshman Sadie Starcevich also played for Butte High. She finished at 255.

On the boys’ side, Great Falls Russell’s Easton Enot followed his first-round 71 with a 70 for a 3-under-par 141 and medalist honors.

Billings Senior’s Sean Benson shot a final-round 68 for second place at 144. Three golfers tied for third at 147.

Butte High’s Trey Hoagland shot a 78 after Thursday’s 76 and finished two shots out of the top 10 at 154.

CMR won the team title at 614, two shots better than Senior. West was third at 617. Butte High placed  12th at 663. All 14 Class AA teams competed.

Will Kilmer followed an 82 with an 81 for 163 and placed second on the Butte High team. Houston Green (85-84) was next at 169, followed by Isaiah Weldon (88-89) at 177 and Tucker Thatcher (94-90) at 184.

Butte High is back in action next week with the Butte-Anaconda Invitational at the Old Works and Butte Country Club.
