WALLA WALLA, Wash. — Butte golfer Shealyn Hafer and Team Montana sit in 17th place after the first round of the Girls’ Junior America’s Cup Tuesday at the Walla Walla Country Club.
Hafer, who will be a senior at Butte High this school year, opened the three-day tournament with an 88 on the par-72 course.
The Montanans shot a 254 on the first day. Hannah Zwemke of Billings hit 83, Coral Schulz of Helena carded an 84 and Teigan Avery of Kalispell shot an 87.
Mexico leads the way at 219. Southern California was next at 220, followed by Northern California No. 2 at 221 and British Columbia at 223.
