Hafer, Joyce, Green win Anaconda Challenge

OPPORTUNITY — Butte golfers Shealyn Hafer, Tricia Joyce and Houston Green claimed titles at the Anaconda Challenge Wednesday at the Anaconda Country Club.

The tournament was the seventh stop on the South West Montana Junior Golf Tour.

Hafer, fresh of her appearance at the Junior America’s Cup, shot a 4-over-par 77 to win the Suzann Pettersen Division for girls 16-17. Butte’s Hailey Ogolin placed second at 89.

Joyce carded a 92 to win the Stacy Lewis Division (girls 14-15). Fellow Butte golfer Alexis Williams was second in the age group at 103.

Green won the Rory McIlroy Division (boys 14-15) with a 79 on the par-71 course. He beat Isaiah Weldon of Butte by one shot. Will Hoagland of Butte and Riley Lawrence of Helena tied for third at 82.

In the Tiger Woods Division (boys 16-17), Logan Teegarden of Clancy came out on top with a 76, the low round of the tournament.

Butte’s Will Kilmer was second at 78, followed by Butte’s Levin Mullaney and Helena’s Travis Wright at 84.

Whitehall golfer Max Feight won the nine-hole Phil Mickelson Division (boys 12-13) with a 43. Erik Casagranda of Butte placed second at 45, one shot better than Fairfield’s Teigan Isakson.

The South West Montana Junior Golf Tour season will conclude Monday with the Old Works Championships in Anaconda.
