BOZEMAN — While the majority of Montana’s track & field athletes were in California this weekend, the Grizzlies sent five athletes to compete at the MSU Open in Bozeman.
Senior Dillon May ran a personal best in the 1,500 meters, placing 11th out of 19 runners with an adjusted time of 4:08.50. He also ran the 800 meters, placing 10th at 2:01.03. Nolan Staats was the other men’s athlete to compete. He finished seventh in the long jump, reaching 21-2.5, and ran a 11.43 in the 100 meters — his first time running the event this season.
For the women, Butte High graduate Mijah McLeod had a PR in the 800 meters, finishing third out of 13 runners (2:19.90). The Grizzlies had two runners in the 1,500 meters, with freshmen Lyric DeVries (5:14.70) and Chloe Cosgrove (5:30.81) competing.
Montana was going up against athletes from Carroll, Idaho State, Montana State, MSU-Billings, Providence and Rocky Mountain. The entire team will be back in Bozeman the next two weekends before hosting the Big Sky Outdoor Championships May 8-11.
