Griz close drills under lights

MISSOULA — It will be “Friday Night Lights” later this week, as The University of Montana Grizzly football team concludes its spring drills on April 19, with an evening scrimmage in Washington-Grizzly Stadium.  The scrim will start around 7:15 p.m. and there will be no admission charge.

There are plenty of festivities surrounding Friday night’s scrimmage.  Two Grizzly greats will be on hand, as the two quarterbacks who led the Grizzlies to national championships, Dave Dickenson (1995) and John Edwards (2001), will be in attendance.  Both former standouts will talk to the crowd prior to the scrimmage.

Another highlight on Friday will be the introduction of the Grizzlies’ 2013 team captains before the start of the scrim.  (Head coach Mick Delaney will tell his team who they have chosen to be their captains at a team meeting around 5:30 p.m. on Friday.)

Also, following the scrimmage (which will be around 8:45 p.m.), Dickenson, Edwards, along with current Grizzly players will sign autographs or other memorabilia.

A limited number of the official 2013 Grizzly Football Poster (one ONLY please) will be available following the scrim as well.

Fans must enter Washington-Grizzly Stadium via the West and South Gates.  Seating is available only on the West Side of the stadium.  (All other seating areas will be closed).

Griz fans are encouraged to park in either Lot W OR on the east Side of stadium, as the 45th annual Kyi-Yo Yo Pow Wow Native American event begins that evening as well.

The fun event of the day goes from 5:30-6:00 p.m., with Kids Coaching Stations and Drills with the football team on the playing surface of Washington-Grizzly Stadium.

Griz football fans are reminded that the annual Great Griz Encounter event at which key players are introduced and the whole team signs autographs, will once again take place in mid-August in Caras Park.
