Grey to coach Badlands Bowl

Butte High football coach Arie Grey will coach the 20th Annual Knights of Columbus Badlands Bowl, The Miles City Star reported.

“It’s a great honor,” Grey told the Star. “It shows how our program has progressed. The kids and coaches were the reason I was selected. I couldn’t be more honored. I had a blast the first time I was there and am excited to have the chance to be the head coach.”

Last month Grey led the Bulldogs to their first Class AA State title in 21 years. He will bring Butte High assistant Bryan Arntson to run the Montana defense in the game that pits the Montana All-Stars against the North Dakota All-Stars.

Other Montana assistant coaches will be Jim Stanton of Billings Central, Scott King of Malta, Dale McQueary of Manhattan and Allan Labbe of Superior.

Grey played in the Badlands Bowl in 1997 after graduating from Powell County High School in Deer Lodge. He is the first head coach of the Montana All-Stars who also played in the game.

Grey was also named the head coach of the West team for the 2013 Montana Shrine Game.
