Grey named Coach of the Year

Butte High football coach Arie Grey was named the Class AA Coach of the Year by the Montana Coaches Association.

The award comes after Grey led the Bulldogs to their first Class AA State title since 1991. The Bulldogs beat Bozeman 38-36 in the title game Nov. 16 at Naranche Stadium.

In five seasons at Butte High, Grey’s Bulldogs are 23-32. He led Butte High to three straight playoff appearances. Butte High went 11-2 in the title run.

Grey said the award is not about him.

“It’s all the boys, assistant coaches and program,” he said.

Grey will coach the West Team in the Montana Shrine Game, which is in Butte in July. He will also coach the Badlands Bowl in June.
