Green, Williams, Lean claim Powell County Invite titles

DEER LODGE —Houston Green, Alexis Williams and Kennedy Lean did it again Wednesday on the South West Montana Junior Golf Tour.

The three Butte golfers brought home titles from the Powell County Invitational at the Deer Park Golf Course. Each won for the third time in four stops on the tour.

Green fired a 5-over-par 77 to win the Tiger Woods Division for boys 16-17. Green topped Helena golfer Riley Lawrence by one shot for the win. Butte’s Eric Fogerty and Isaiah Weldon tied for third at 80.

Green also won the Butte “Kickoff” Classic and the Silver Bow Open. He placed fourth at last week’s Hamilton Masters.

Williams shot an 87 to run away with the title in the Suzann Petterson division for girls 16-17. Mikaela Latka of Helena was a distant second at 101. Williams also won the two Butte tournaments. She didn’t play in Hamilton last week.

Lean, who placed second in the first tour tournament, won for the third week in a row. Playing solo in the Lexi Thompson division for girls 12-13, Lean shot a 68 over nine holes.

Hamilton’s Tristan and Tanner Hanson won their age groups for the second straight week. Tristan Hanson shot a 92 to win the Rory McIlroy division for boys 13-14. Butte’s Alex Dorr and Helena’s Holden Gehringer tied for second at 99. Butte’s J.J. Mohr finished fourth at 100.

Tanner Hanson shot a 46 over nine holes to win the Phil Mickelson division for boys 12-13. He beat Butte’s Kaven Noctor by two shots. Andrew Kober of Butte placed third at 51.

There were no entries in the Stacy Lewis division for girls 13-14. The next stop on the tour is the Fairmont Invitational on July 14.
