‘Great Griz Encounter’ is Aug. 22

MISSOULA — The 18th annual “Great Griz Encounter” sponsored by the Providence St. Patrick Hospital will take place  on Thursday, Aug. 22, downtown in Caras Park.  The event is held in conjunction with the Missoula Downtown Association’s weekly “Downtown Tonight” function.

The festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. with live music by the “Dead Winter Carpenters,” a group flying in from Lake Tahoe, California, to play the River City Roots Festival.

The 2013 University of Montana Griz football team will be featured at the annual gathering.  Montana’s 2013 All-American and Honors Candidates, and Griz Head Coach Mick Delaney will be introduced at 6:30 p.m.  After that, all of the Griz players will sign posters until around 8:30 p.m. Due to the large amount of fans wishing to get autographs, there is a two-item limit. 

Licensed vendors will also be on hand selling Grizzly merchandise and apparel.
