Great Falls, LC women move onto quarterfinals

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — Two Frontier Conference women’s basketball teams advanced to the quarterfinals of the NAIA national tournament.

The University of Great Falls and Lewis-Clark State College both picked up victories in the second round Friday at the Silverstein Eye Center Arena.

Great Falls knocked off Lyon of Arkansas 60-50 hours after Lewis-Clark State beat Cumberland of Tennessee 75-70.

Brittany Tackett scored 21 points to lead three Warriors in double figures as Lewis-Clark State advanced to the Elite Eight for the first time since 2008. Stat sheet

Erin Legal scored 17 points and Nneka Nnadi tossed in 16 as the Argos ended Lyon’s season at 30-4. Stat sheet

The Argos (24-10) will take on Pikeville (25-8) of Kentucky at 5 p.m. (Mountain Time) Saturday. The Warriors (27-6) will play Baker (36-8) of Kansas at 3 p.m. Schedule
