Gransbery wins 103 title, Dogs fourth at LeProwse

BOZEMAN — Sophomore Keagan Gransbery claimed the 103-pound title to lead the way Saturday as Butte High tied for fourth place at the Tom LeProwse Invitational wrestling tournament.

Gransbery was one of five Bulldogs to place in the top six at the prestigious meet. He beat Jalen Vladic of Billings Senior by major decision, 11-3, in the championship match.

In the same division, Butte’s Christian Sherman fell to Vladic in the semifinals. Sherman went on to place sixth.

Wil Queer and Kameron Moreno brought home second-place for the Bulldogs. Queer fell to Billings West’s Drake Rhodes in the championship match at 103. Moreno lost a 3-2 decision to Livingston’s Shane Gibson in the 205 chipper.

Butte’s Carl Anderson placed fourth at 152 pounds.

Bozeman won the team title with 214 points. Billings Senior took second at 164.4, followed by West at 159.5. Butte High and Missoula Big Sky/Loyola each scored 138 points.

The Bulldogs, the No. 3 team in the Class AA< will head back to Bozeman Tuesday for a dual with the top-ranked Hawks.
