Gilbert hat trick leads Cobras in rout of Sabres

Judah Gilbert registered a hat trick Friday night, and the Butte Cobras rolled to a 7-1 victory over the Badlands Sabres at the Butte Community Ice Center. (Stats)

Gilbert scored two goals in the first period of the NA3HL Frontier Division game, and the Cobras scored three in the first 20 minutes. Butte led 6-0 before Adam Kahpeaysewat scored the Badlands lone goal 6 minutes, 38 seconds into the third period.

Caleb Manson scored two goals in the Butte win. Nick Bradshaw and Ross Biggerstaff also scored. Cade Wessman assisted on three goals. Tamer Billman, Carson Streich and Caelin Chinery each assisted on two.

David Hanney, Luke Schleusner, Keith Des Jardins and Bradshaw assisted on one for Butte, which outshot the Sabres 61-30. Butte goalie Braylon Rogers turned away 30 shots in the win.

The Cobras and Sabres will play again Saturday at the Ice Center. The puck drops at 7 p.m.
