Butte Central senior Riley Gelling signed his NAIA national letter of intent today to join the Track and Field program at Carrol College. Riley was joined by family, friends, teammates, and coaches on this special day.
Riley was a 3-sport athlete as a Butte Central Maroon, his most notable being track. Butte Central principal Don Peoples spoke highly of Riley’s character. “Riley and his family have been a great asset and supporter of Butte Central and everyone in this room, we are extremely proud for number one his academics and his dedication and work ethic to those three sports and academics during his time here.”
Don Peoples also noted that Riley adds to the 2023 senior class for scholarships and that number has now exceeded over 2.3 Millon dollars, absolutely incredible.
I spoke with Riley after his signing and he said I’m really excited to join Carrol, they are going to have me to do the shot put and discus and they also want me to try out the javelin and hammer throw.”
If you have ever had the chance to meet or talk to Riley in person, you can just tell how great of a young man he is and how lucky Carrol College is to get a student athlete like him.
Riley looks forward to placing this year at state before moving on to college.
Congratulations to Riley and the Gelling Family.
