Frontier volleyball tourney starts Friday in Helena

Montana Tech wrapped up its firs Frontier Conference volleyball regular-season title in 27 years with Saturday’s Senior Day win over MSU-Northern.

Now, the Orediggers have to wait to see who they will play in the Frontier Conference tournament. The single-elimination tournament begins Friday in Helena, and the winner receives an automatic berth in the NAIA national tournament.

The Orediggers (10-2 conference, 20-8 overall) received a first-round bye and will play the lowest seed remaining from Friday’s play in Saturday’s 11 a.m. semifinal. Tech is the only team with a bye.

The University of Providence and Lewis-Clark State open the tournament at 2 p.m. Friday. Rocky Mountain College takes on Montana Western at 5 before host Carroll College closes the first day with a match against Northern at 7.

The NAIA tournament begins Nov. 18.

2 p.m. — No. 4 University of Providence (6-6, 20-9) vs No. 5 Lewis-Clark State (5-7, 10-13)
5 p.m. — No. 2 Rocky Mountain College (9-3, 21-10) vs No. 7 Montana Western (1-11, 9-17)
7 p.m. — No. 3 Carroll College (8-4, 15-11) vs No. 6 MSU-Northern (3-9, 9-17)
11 a.m. — Montana Tech (10-2, 20-8) vs. lowest remaining seed
1 p.m. — Two highest seeds
7 p.m. — Championship match
