Frontier Players of the Week

The Frontier Conference announced the men’s and women’s Basketball Players of the Week awards today. Here they are:

Kindra Jones of the University of Great Falls was named the Frontier Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Jones is a 6-foot-3 senior center from Richmond, Calif. The Argos went 1-1 on a California road trip. Great Falls lost to No. 13 the Masters 48-86 and beat NCAA Division III Whittier College 82-67. For the weekend, she averaged 16.5 points and 11.5 rebounds. She was 15 of 26 from the field (58 percent) and 3 of 4 from the free throw line. Also nominated: Tanis Fuller of Lewis-Clark State and Tia Pappas of Westminster College.

Jacob Champoux of Lewis-Clark State College was named the Frontier Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Champoux is a 5-foot-11 junior guard from Seattle, Wash. The Warriors stayed unbeaten with a thrilling, last-second 65-63 Frontier Conference victory over Montana Tech. Champoux scored 23 points. He was 9 of 13 from the field, made 3 of 6, 3-point field goals and 2 of 2 from the free throw line. He scored the Warriors final eight points including the game-winning field goal at the buzzer. Lewis-Clark State had trailed the entire game. Also nominated: Jake Orchard of Westminster College.
