Frontier names weekly hoops honors

WHITEFISH — E.J. Farris of Lewis-Clark State College and Alli Blake of Westminster College were named Frontier Conference Players of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Farris, a 6-foot-2 senior guard from Newark, Calif., took home the men’s basketball honor. The Warriors won their only game of the week beating MacEwan University 113-59 in a non-conference game.

Farris scored 28 points, grabbed two rebounds. dished off three assists and had one steal in only 23 minutes of playing time. He was 11 of 15 from the field (73 percent) including 6 of 10 from the 3-point line (60 percent).

Alfie Miller of MSU-Northern was also nominated for the award.

Blake, a 5-11 senior forward from Kaysville, Utah, is the women’s basketball recipient. The Griffins went 1-1 on a California road trip. Westminster beat Hope International (RV) 60-52 and lost  to No. 12 The Master’s 84-92. She averaged 20.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and one steal. Blake was 15 of 31 from the field and 11 of 15 from the free throw line (73 percent). She had a season high 22 points against The Master’s.

Taylor Cummings of MSU-Northern and Roxy Thurman of Montana Western were also nominated.
