Frontier names weekly honors

The Frontier Conference announced the men’s and women’s Basketball Players of the Week awards today. Here they are:

Kelsi Wells of Westminster College was named the Frontier Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Wells is a 5-foot-9 junior forward from Grantsville, Utah. The Griffins went 2-0 on a California road trip. Westminster beat No. 4 Westmont 62-29 and San Diego Christian 60-40. For the weekend, she averaged 14.5 points and three rebounds. She was 12 of 19 from the field (63 percent), 4 of 6 in 3-point field goals and 1 of 1 from the free throw line. Her 22 points against Westmont was a career high. Also nominated: Tanis Fuller of Lewis-Clark State and Laci Keller of Montana


Joel Barndt of Rocky Mountain College was named the Frontier Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Barndt is a 6-foot-9 junior forward from Billings, Mont. At a Christmas tournament, Rocky beat the University of Calgary twice, 82-72 and 103-77. Barndt averaged 23.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals. He was 18 of 30 from the field, made 3 of 8, 3-point field goals and was 8 of 8 from the free throw line. Also nominated: P.J. Bolte of Lewis-Clark State and Tallon Robertson of Westminster College.
