The Frontier Conference announced the men’s and women’s Basketball Players of the Week awards today. Here they are:
Erin Legel of the University of Great Falls was named the Frontier Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Legel is a 5-foot-5 freshman guard from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. The Argos beat Dickinson State 87-69 in their only game of the week. In the victory, she had 22 points, four rebounds and four steals. Legel was 7 of 9 from the field (78 percent), 4 of 5 in 3-point field goals (80 percent) and a perfect 4 for 4 from the free throw line. Also nominated: Dannielle Devenny of Montana Tech, Mariah Duran of Dickinson State, Tanis Fuller of Lewis-Clark State, Brittany Kumm of Rocky Mountain College, Megan Patterson of Carroll College, Nikki Tresch of Montana State-Northern and Nicole Yazzie of Westminster College.
Jacob Champoux of Lewis-Clark State College was named the Frontier Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Champoux is a 5-foot-11 junior guard from Seattle, Wash. The fifth ranked Warriors won two games over the week beating Multnomah Bible College 133-94 at home and then winning 93-75 at Montana Tech. For the week, Champoux averaged 25 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and two steals. He was 18 of 29 from the field (62 percent), 10 of 13 in 3-point field goals (77 percent) and 4 of 6 from the free throw. Champoux leads the nation in 3-point field goal shooting with a 62 percent shooting percentage.
